Skyfall: Review

To start off, I really enjoyed Casino Royal and thought it was a fantastic, much needed reboot of Bond. Quantum of Solace was a cluster and disappointment though. Much more ambitious than Casino Royal and ended up being meh.

So Skyfall looked interesting right from the first trailer. It looked like Bond was finally going to fall at the knees of a villain, or at least thats what the trailer led on. The title Skyfall also sounds mysterious and very important. So did the film live up to the Bond legacy. Well, of course it did.

Skyfall starts off a little slow, Even though the opening act is a chase sequence that includes motor bikes and a fight scene on top of a moving train. It ends with Bond being shot by his partner on accident. The whole opening scene didn't seem intense or anything and was a bit boring. So right off the start I was worried. The opening credits that follow right after, tops the best of the Bond songs. Adele's theme is fantastic.

Then we get to the juice of the film. The whole middle act is just so much better than the beginning and ending of the film. We learn that M must retire and that Ralph Fiennes character is pretty much going to take her place after. But M refuses untill her current job is over. M thinks Bond is dead. Then there's an attack on M16, which brings Bond back from the dead to help M investigate and find who is doing this. Then the whold middle act starts and the world adventure begins. Its all fun to watch and the acting is great. Also the way this film was shot is stunning. This is definitely the best looking Bond film

Javiar Bardem portrays the villain in Skyfall and is just fantastic. He practically steals the show, giving a performance worthy of some sort of reward! But he enters the film about half way through and is in the film not nearly as long as I would like.

The ending is a huge letdown. After Bardem's character takes a direct shot at M, her and Bond flee to Bonds child hood house. The whole ending is a shoot out defending Bonds old mansion and is just underwhelming. The act was just as a let down as the opening scene and it leaves a bitter taste in your mouth, as your thinking "That's it"?

Overall this is a better film than the previous Bond film, but doesn't even touch Casino Royal. The played the film a little safe this time around. But there were a few nice touches, having a much darker tone, a crazy villain, and a Bond that is coming out of retirement.

Even with all the complaining, I did enjoy the film. Now its time to wait for whats next. Which has the parts to make the best Bond ever. Final Score: 8.0. Providing useful articles, reviews and writings on movies and films online.

Reviews of Famous Martial Arts Movies, The Brothers Five

Out of all Cheng Pei-Pei movies, "The Brothers Five" which was released in 1970 was probably the most queer as the main female lead in the movie was not the center of the story at any time. Still, with the help of an excellent cast which included the beautiful Pei-Pei, director Lo-Wei pulled off an amazing movie.

Like all other wuxia movies during that period, the movie has nothing new on offer as far as the script is concerned. The movie begins with Yueh Hua helping a man who was being roughed up by the driver of a coach while going to the Flying Dragon Villa, a mansion that is usually not spoken of by the villagers.

Yueh Hua beats the driver who runs away leaving behind a driver-less carriage. Yueh Hua finds Yan Loi (Cheng Pei-Pei) sitting inside the carriage. Yan was herself going to the Flying Dragon Villa. So Yueh offers to driver her coach and together they head for the Villa.

Gao Wei (Yueh Hua) wards of a few more bad guys on the way and then Yan Loi tells her story. Gao Wei was going to meet Yan's father who is dead and the evil Long Zhen Feng is responsible. We are then introduced another revenge story that unfolds gradually. "The Brothers Five" have the usual wuxia style of plot which is set in a world filled with martial arts exponents.

The action sequences are well thought and executed. We are introduced to the Flying Dragon Villa almost half an hour after the movie starts. The first fight scene at the Villa featuring a blacksmith (Chin Han) and a group of baddies is a feast and the original location adds to the thrill. Devoid of any background music, the scene is filled with wide shots plus loads of mouth-watering action.

The film might seem predictable at times with the brothers arriving one after another, but most of the time the movie is exciting and well planned. All the five brothers are eventually drawn towards the Flying Dragon Villa in a series of well thought and executed events.

The timing for the release of "The Brothers Five" was perfect. It does not have the usual super-male quotient as other Cheh movies, nor does it have the stodgy factor as in the earlier Shaw movies during the 60s. Male chauvinism is, for once, is never the highlight of the movie. The usage of real locations to show the Flying Dragon Villa is a welcome relief and it is in fact exciting to watch the brilliant actions scenes against the backdrop of blue sky as well as greenery.

"The Brothers Five" is definitely lengthy when compared to other movies by Cheh. But you can't really complain when you have a 15 minutes long climax which is filled with heart-stopping sword fights and feisty hammer fights. This is the movie to choose if you are a fan of such thrilling and well-crafted action. Providing useful articles, reviews and writings on movies and films online.

Jackie Chan's Last Major Action Film: Chinese Zodiac

If I've heard it once, I've heard it a thousand times: "Oh, I'm too old to do that". Every time I've heard that statement, I've politely disagreed. I believe that as we grow older we just become less active. So, to that previously mentioned statement, bah humbug!

Now, on to the main topic of this article, Jackie Chan! At 58 years old, Jackie is still doing his special brand of stunts and is going to release the biggest film of his career: Chinese Zodiac. If Jackie can still kick butt, then you have no excuses!

This is what Jackie had to say about his final action flick:

"I've been fighting and doing action films all my life, you've got to find a point to stop. With this movie I'm the director, I'm the writer, I'm the producer. So okay, I think it's a good time to announce that it's my last big action movie. I would still do action movies but not a big one like this.""For the last ten years I've been choosing the director to direct me. This one I direct myself," he explained. "I hope this movie, 20 years later, people still remember it. For me, for the audience, for my future, for my history - it's very important."

Chinese Zodiac is the third installment in the "Armour of God" series which was titled "Operation Condor" in the U.S. It's funny how Jackie says that he hopes people still remember this film 20 years from now. It has actually already been 21 years since the release of "Armour of God II: Operation Condor" and I remember that movie... it is one of my favorites.

Chinese Zodiac is about a treasure hunter/ thief that is on a mission to find a rare set of Chinese sculptures that represent the zodiac animals. Jackie has spent 7 years preparing and 1 year shooting in over 10 cities in 5 countries. The film is also being produced with a Hong Kong production company instead of one in Hollywood. Yes! Now we can count on it being somewhat decent instead of a run of the mill piece of Hollywood garbage.

I can't wait until Chinese Zodiac is released. When Jackie says he's going to do something, he means business. I've seen countless behind the scenes footage of him doing stunts over and over and over again until they are perfect. He doesn't want any of his action sequences to look bad. This film is no exception to the rule... it is going to represent his life's work.

As far as continuing his career, I'll admit it, I don't think Jackie is going to have a very easy time transitioning into being a "serious" actor. Even if Jackie does have an incredible acting talent, he has branded himself as an action star and most will scoff at the idea.

I applaud Jackie. He just wants to keep doing what he loves. He has had an incredible career. He has acted in over 100 films and has even shared the screen with the great Bruce Lee in "Enter the Dragon".

Even if he remains in excellent shape, at some point, you've got to relax a little bit. I haven't seen too many people in their sixties jump from building tops to the roofs of buses or fly down zip lines at 40mph. I'm hoping he will continue to do as many stunts as he can in his future films. Jackie truly is a living legend. Providing articles, reviews and writings on movies online.

Big Film Posters of 2012

Films are getting bigger and bigger. Prequels, sequels. Remakes and more. 2012 is a big year for films, and in turn, film posters. The designers and teams behind films have probably, quite a lot on their plate. You'd be forgiven to thinking that they could just chuck then design to an intern.

"You boy! Intern! The one with the beard! Take a screen shot and put some reviews on it. Make it snappy. 8 million prints. In the next hour. "

However, it's worth bearing in mind that this is the studio's main route to press and excitement over their latest creation, so plenty of time and effort goes into making these posters the best they can be.

So the top film posters of 2012 for the bestsellers were as follows:

The Avengers

The Avengers posters showed the full cast of the avengers assembled (see what we did there?) with some shots of individual members, and a clear focus on the date as well as the 'A' for avengers and the studio Marvel. The brand is well established and needed little explanation, and the use of the variety of characters on their own and together added diversity and interest for fans of the individual films (e.g. Thor, Hulk, Iron Man.)

The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games posters were a mix of the full cast in a shadowy side profile, as well as the arena shot with the strap line 'the world will be watching'. For those who hadn't read the hunger games books, this unusual setting certainly gave an air of mystery to the film, with the poster giving actually little away to the genre and plot of the Hunger Games. The continuity of brand imagery, the searing orange and blacks meant that the hunger games posters were soon a noticeable fixture across the country.

Titanic 3D

Titanic 3D's posters featured jack and rose looking wet and a little harrowed (wonder why?) with the strap line 'experience it like never before'. The push here is all on 3D, and Titanic 3D, although not reinventing the wheel, was always going to be a big hitter on the anniversary of the sinking of the ship.

Wrath of the Titans

The Wrath of the Titans posters featured spearing of two headed beasts, a hunky male lead in full view of the shot, as well as the aforementioned beast breathing fire on said hunky male lead. The theme of wrath of the titan's poster was definitely 'Action!!' and gave a real indication of 'what you see is what you'll get.' It worked, grossing $298,004,440 worldwide.

So, we're not even through 2012 and we are already seeing some amazing film posters and movies hitting worldwide. The year of the blockbuster, the movie poster themes continue to push 3D, Imax and Real, and we can expect to see some great images for the upcoming Batman: The Dark Knight Rises posters and the new Spiderman posters. Keep your eyes peeled! Providing articles, reviews and writings on movies online.

Abraham Lincoln Movie, President Vs. Zombies

Introduction

Karl T. Hirsch and J. Lauren Proctor have come up with a story titled Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies and the movie is directed by a very talented director - Richard Schenkman. An American civil war is going on and suddenly there is an outburst of the zombies and the president has to save the nation from these very dangerous undead creatures.

Plot

The very first scene of the movie is that Abraham Lincoln, a 10 year old lad is watching his father commit suicide because there has been an outbreak of the undead creatures and his father could not handle the situation.Abraham then joins the others in his community to protect the country and get rid of the zombies. This is just a small outbreak of the zombies and the people along with Abraham manage to destroy them all and save the country from further crisis.

The story is then fast forwarded to where Abraham Lincoln is the president and is informed of an outbreak of the undead in a place which is across the enemy lines. In his early days he had seen his parents succumb to these undead creatures, and has an idea what to expect and how to tackle them. He immediately gives orders to the army to go and destroy these furious undead creatures before it's too late.
This is what the Abraham Lincoln movie is all about. The bigger question is that will he be able to survive the siege and bring peace to the country and will he succeed in killing the zombies or will become a prey for them?

Cast

- Bill Oberst Jr. - Abraham Lincoln
- Jason Hughley - Wilson Brown
- Don McGraw - General Stonewall Jackson
- Brennen Harper - the young Lincoln
- Baby Norman - Mary Owens
- Raed Ali - Henry Lee Barton
- Jason Vail - John Wilkinson
- Bernie Ask - Edwin Stanton
- Amy Brice - Blonde Zombie
- Kennedy Brice - Little Zombie girl

Reception

The Abraham Lincoln movie has been made with a nominal budget of $150,000. The film being distributed by The Asylum was released on 29th May, 2012. This is the best Lincoln movie so far. The studio has made similar kind of movies previously also, but this film has raised the bar.

Review

The Asylum is back again with a 90 minutes Abraham Lincoln movie, the so called 'mockbuster'. The last half dozen Asylum films were quite bad and were disastrous at the box office too. The latest Abraham Lincoln movie vs. the Zombies will save and bring back the reputation of the Asylum as it is one of the best Asylum movies so far. We have all seen the previous Lincoln movies and have been disappointed a lot of times but with the release of Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies your opinion towards Asylum movies will change forever.

The movie looks fantastic and the sound effects are amazing. Director Richard Schenkman has done a great job and everyone has acted quite well. For the first time there are some recognizable actors in the film.
Conclusion - If you like the zombie films and can tolerate gore then you will definitely love this one. Providing articles, reviews and writings on movies online.

Silent Era's Bad Girls

Anita Page

Nineteen twenty-eight, Ann played by Anita Page. She chased men for their money and drank as much as she wanted too. In "Our Dancing Daughters" she starred along with Joan Crawford as Diana and Ben played by Johnny Mack Brown. At a time when, flamboyance was honored and women onscreen did what they pleased.

The movie also dealt with the conflict between the two women and Ben. As much as Diana loved him, she put him off with her inhibited dancing and flirting with other men. It was Ann that came to his side while Diana suffered watching the two of them together.

The movie offered the audiences then, an opening scene where a woman danced in her shimmy in front of a mirror. Also, it showed a passionate love scene at a beach. After all; it was the Jazz Age and the bad girls in movies. They enjoyed every minute of their freedom.

The movie had an interesting mix of background sound effects and recorded singing for a few of the scenes. It was still considered a silent film because the actors spoke no dialogue. A few years later, a production code limited the explicitness shown onscreen.

Gloria Swanson

Nineteen twenty-eight, Gloria Swanson starred in "Sadie Thompson." It was a compelling drama and for her a signature role. Lionel Barrymore played a reformer bent on teaching the islanders to repent their ways. It was Sadie that became his focus. In fact, he used whatever means he could to get her sent back to San Francisco.

The movie captured the idea of sin versus redemption, guilt or innocence, the temptation of lust and sincere heartfelt love. Also, the question of Sadie's past that haunted her future. But it was to Sadie's advantage that forced her to go along with the idea to repent.

She quit wearing heavy make-up, rid herself of her flashy clothes and jewelry. It was the plain Sadie that caused the reformer sleepless nights. The movie's end saw Sadie back to her old ways. However, she got what she wanted all along.

Even with the content and the threat of censorship, the silent movie was well received and Gloria Swanson became "Sadie" the bad girl making her a huge box-office star.

Greta Garbo

Nineteen twenty-eight, Greta Garbo starred in "A Woman Of Affairs." Indeed, she was. The story started out with three friends, Diana Merrick played by Garbo, Neville Holderness played by John Gilbert and David Furness played by Johnny Mack Brown. Her brother, Jeffery Merrick was played by Douglas Fairbanks, Jr.

When Neville's father sent him to Egypt in order to make money, Diana was distraught. She married David. When in Paris, he plunged out of their hotel window The question became how would such a happy man do such a thing? With her brother turning against her and also much of society, Diana spent her time getting involved in affairs with other men.

After seven years away, Diana returned to London. However, Neville married a woman named Constance. The story revolved around being so much in love while married to someone else. It was also doing the right thing for decency. At what price, they paid with their lives.

The movie was a hit only because of Garbo's portrayal of Diana. It was not so much about being bad as it was about being so much in love and what it drove her character to do. Providing articles, reviews and writings on movies online.

The history of Bollywood

The history of movies genuinely manage to drag us away to a different time and, for probably the most portion, teach us a bit about our ancestors- although I admit some are so awful that they teach myths rather than realities. An all-inclusive, straightforward answer is just not what I have here. You say what you consider as a movie, and I'll tell you the proper answer. The really to begin with movie ever produced could possibly be a set of moving images, or might be a full-fledged movie using a tinge of action, drama, thrill, comedy, and also a tad-bit of romance.

Movies initial had a set of motion photos, then had colours, followed by sound, and so, the enhancement occurred. Currently, it really is fairly difficult to concentrate on your popcorns when you are spellbound by the mind-boggling unique effects in movies. But which was that very first movie which was a revolution in itself? Which marked the starting from the entertainment era? I assume, the ideal technique to answer will be segregating them into various sections as follows.

Initial Bollywood Movie

‘Raja Harishchandra' produced and directed by Dadasaheb Phalke was the initial movie that marked the dawn of Indian Film Business. It was a silent movie that depicted the history of noble and righteous king Harishchandra, recounted in Ramayana and Mahabharat. The film was released in public on 3rd Might, 1913 at Mumbai.

Because it marked the rise of Indian Film Market, the release of this movie thronged the crowd on the road. It was such a humongous accomplishment that Dadasaheb Phalke had to produce additional prints to show inside the rural areas.

This movie had all male-casts as there had been no female leads out there.

Very first Bollywood Movie with Sound

‘Alam Ara' in March 14, 1931 was the first movie with sound that buzzed the new era of Indian film Industry. It was directed by Ardeshir Irani under the production banner Of ‘Imperial Movietone'.

The movie also marked the rise of filmi music as noted by popular director Shyam Benegal mentioned, "It was not just a talkie. It was a talking and singing film with extra singing and much less talking. It had several songs and that truly set the template for the form of films that had been created later".

Very first Colour Movie made in India

‘Kisan Kanya' was a 1937 Hindi function film starring Padmadevi, Jillo, Ghulam Mohammed, Nissar, Syed Ahmed, Ghani. The film was made by Imperial Film Co and was directed by Moti B. Gidwani It is largely remembered by the Indian public on account of it getting India's 1st indigenously made colour film. The film was colored applying the Cinecolour procedure imported by Imperial Film Co. Kisan Kanya had a run time of 137 minutes

Kisan kanya was based on a novel Sadan Hassan Manto and revolved about the plight of poor farmers. The storyline in the film featured an exploitative landlord and also a fantastic peasant Ramu who's accused of murdering the landlord. This movie wasn't a large hit. It performed moderately on box-office and could not gross much profit.

To begin with Bollywood 3D Movie

‘Chota Chetan' gave the new horizon towards the new genre of bollywood movies. It was the first Indian 3D Movie. The film was produced under the banner of Navodaya Films in 1984. Chota Chetan was an enormous box workplace success. The film also won the President's Gold Medal. The movie was re-released with further footage and digital sound upgrade during 1998.

Don 2: The King is Back

Hollywood is still living in the James Bond mania. In the same way, Bollywood is still adding the craze for Don. The first Don was made in 1978 with Big B, Amitabh Bachchan. Afterwards the movie was remade in 2006 with Shahrukh Khan and an additional tag line, "The Chase Begins". Now Farhan Akhtar is about to release the sequel of Shahrukh Khan Starrer Don on December 23, 2011. Again Shahrukh and Priyanka Chopra will be seen together in the lead roles.

The initial portion of the movie will show a new get up of Shahrukh with long hair and messy beard on face and a bit devilish smile on it always. Boman Irani will play the same character. There are other talented actors like Boman Irani, Lara Dutta, Om Puri and Kunal Kapoor also in this movie. The production team is formed with Shahrukh, Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar for this Don 2 Movie. Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy once again made nice and decent pleasure for our ears. The movie will get into publicity with 2 unique 2D and 3D versions.

The last ‘Don' showed how Don escaped from the police surrounding to keep his legacy alive. This latest one will depict his amazing comeback after 5 years with full of action scenes. This time, the most wanted Don plans to destroy all his enemies and to make the whole Europe under his control. All the law authorities of 132 individual countries seek to trace him in every corner of the world as the dialogue said by Don himself.

Piggy Chp's role of Roma is also one of his vital foes as she is determined to take revenge of the cold-blooded murder of her brother, Ramesh. Om Puri as Malik is her most important companion for accomplishing the mission. Malik is actually an Interpol officer. The double identity holder Vardhaan (Boman Irani) who took the name DCP De'Silva earlier will also be there in the Malaysian prison along with Don in the opening part of this movie. Eventually Don stretches his hand of friendship towards him. Whether Vardhaan joins Don or remains the same with a hatred for Don is yet to be seen.

Don in reality was the faithful attender of the Drug cartels owned by the original King Singhania. But deceitfully Don exchanges the reigning responsibility. Nevertheless Singhania leaves his last mark, a safety box in Switzerland. The Don 2 Movie Review is awaited to be out soon and expected to be the best ever Don with new tech based action and drama. The don 2 movie rating is for that reason reliant upon the response to the storyline used in this movie.

Watch NEW YEAR'S EVE online free. Yes!

The lives of several couples and singles in New York intertwine over the course of New Year's Eve. The movie tells intertwining stories of a group of New Yorkers as they navigate their way through romance over the course of New Year's Eve. Robert De Niro will play a bitter dying man in a hospital, while Michelle Pfeiffer will be a frustrated executive secretary who decides to tackle her unfulfilled resolutions. Hilary Swank will play a producer of the famed Times Square New Year's Eve show. Ashton Kutcher will play a guy who hates New Year's Eve. New Year's Eve is a sequel to the hit Romantic Comedy Valentine's Day, with the holiday switched from Cupid's day to the start of the new year.

Next to nothing is known about the picture at present. It looks like the producers just want to bring back the same ensemble for the sequel, with the same director and writer. No plot details have been released, and there may not even be a script yet. It will likely follow the same format as Valentine's Day, with a variety of people finding romance in different ways.

Second Movie Poster for New Year's Eve. "Let The Countdown Begin." Josh Duhamel, Katherine Heigl, Ashton Kutcher, Sarah Jessica Parker, Zac Efron, Michelle Pfeiffer and Hilary Swank star in director Garry Marshall's (Valentine's Day) all-star ensemble romantic comedy. See the movie trailers, poster and photos for ‘New Year's Eve'. The film celebrates love, hope, forgiveness, second chances and fresh starts, in the intertwining stories told amidst the pulse and promise of New York City on the most dazzling night of the year.

The loose sequel to the ensemble romantic comedy Valentine's Day, directed by Garry Marshall.  Warner Bros. is hoping this will be the start of a beautiful franchise of holiday-themed rom-coms. The narrative centers around the miscommunication surrounding a viral outbreak.  Director Steven Soderbergh is re-teaming with The Informant! scripter Scott Z. Burns, with a cast that includes Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, and Jude Law.  He's also making his first 3D movie.  Could be very cool.

If I didn't know any better, I'd swear Garry Marshall was trying to break the unofficial record he set in Valentine's Day by jamming even more A and B-list actors into his new romantic comedy New Year's Eve. The ultimate result is they are all a part of your basic multi-threaded movie that intertwines the lives of, in this case, a very large number of people during our favorite "I'm going to be a better person right after I recover from tomorrow's hangover" holiday. Mixed with the drunken festivities, I sense a lot of those revelations cheesy enough to choke a billy goat coming through too. See below and make a determination for yourself.
