Marilyn Monroe's Most Famous Happenings

Marilyn Monroe was an American film actress who was born on June 1, 1926, and died on August 5, 1962. Although her career was commercially successful back in the 1950s and early 1960s, she remains a household name to this day. Notable events in Monroe's life include her multiple marriages and her death from barbiturate overdose.

Monroe spent most of her childhood living with distant relatives or in foster homes. She did some modeling in 1945 before signing a film contract with Twentieth Century-Fox in 1946. Her early film career consisted of minor roles, but Monroe began to attract serious attention with her performances in the 1950 dramas "All About Eve" and "The Asphalt Jungle." Monroe's first starring role was in the 1952 thriller "Don't Bother to Knock." This was followed by a series of comedies that made good use of her "dumb blond" persona, for which she became typecast.

Monroe began taking formal acting lessons in 1955 to broaden her acting range and received a Golden Globe nomination for her performance in the 1956 drama "Bus Stop." She was also nominated for a BAFTA Award for the 1957 drama "The Prince and the Showgirl." Her performance in the 1959 comedy "Some Like it Hot" won Monroe a Golden Globe Award and is often considered her best performance. The 1961 drama "The Misfits" was Monroe's last completed film, which received critical acclaim despite being commercially unsuccessful. The actress died while filming "Something's Got to Give," a comedy that was never completed.

All three of Monroe's marriages ended in divorce, and she is also alleged to have had affairs with President John F. Kennedy and Senator Robert Kennedy. She never had children, having suffered an ectopic pregnancy and two miscarriages throughout her marriages. Monroe married James Dougherty on June 19, 1942, shortly after her 16th birthday. Dougherty did not approve of her modeling career, and Monroe divorced him in 1946.

Next, Monroe married retired baseball player Joe DiMaggio in a civil ceremony on January 14, 1954. They met in 1952, although Monroe was initially reluctant to date the retired athlete. Monroe performed a series of USO shows in Japan during the couple's honeymoon, which is widely believed to have created the initial strain on the marriage. The troubled marriage reached the final straw when Monroe filmed the iconic skirt-blowing scene for "The Seven Year Itch" on September 14, 1954. The shoot became a media circus and ended with DiMaggio and Monroe in a shouting match. Monroe filed for a divorce the following month.

Monroe's third marriage was with playwright Arthur Miller in a civil ceremony that took place on June 29, 1956. They met in 1950, although the relationship did not become serious until 1955, when Monroe was filming "Bus Stop." The couple dated discretely over the next year, until their relationship began to receive media attention. The private ceremony was followed by a formal Jewish wedding two days later. Miller wrote the screenplay for "The Misfits" in 1959, intending it as a Valentine gift for Monroe. However, the marriage was irreparable when filming began in 1960 and the couple obtained a divorce in Mexico on January 24, 1961.

Monroe died at her home in Brentwood, California. Her housekeeper discovered her body and called Monroe's psychiatrist, Ralph Greenson. Greenson reported Monroe's death at 4:25 a.m. on August 5, 1962. An autopsy detected chloral hydrate in her blood at a concentration of 8 milligrams per deciliter of blood and 4.5 mg/dL of Nembutal, more than enough to be lethal. The Los Angeles County Coroners office ruled the death a probable suicide due to barbiturate poisoning. Many conspiracy theorists have advanced theories that Monroe's death was arranged by various parties, including John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, the CIA, and the Mafia.

Monroe's body was interred in Los Angeles at the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery on August 8, 1962. The funeral was attended by only 31 people, a very small number considering her fame and the circumstances of her death. Joe DiMaggio handled the arrangements, which included a police presence to keep the media away.

Monroe's will left her personal effects to her coach Lee Strasberg, specifying that he distribute them among her friends and colleagues. However, Strasberg stored the items in a warehouse and they went to his wife Anna upon his death in 1982. Anna auctioned off the majority of Monroe's effects through Christie's auction house in October 1999, netting $13,405,785.

Anna Strasberg was also granted ownership of Monroe's home after a long legal battle. She received the proceeds from the sale of the home in July 2010, at a total of $3.6 million. Providing useful articles, reviews and writings on movies and films online.

Movie Stars' Continuous Migration to TV

In 1988, when Dustin Hoffman won his second Oscar for his brilliant portrayal of an autistic savant in "Rain Man," few would have predicted that he would be starring in a television show later in his career. Big-name actors would never consider playing TV roles-ever. Yet, the list of top movie stars making their way to the small screen continues to grow each year. So what has caused this migratory pattern?

With the help of performers like Hoffman, television is no longer the stepchild for actors. It is attracting top talent because it has caught up with silver-screen movies in three broad categories-jobs, spending, and creativity. From all indications, TV intends to step up its competition for the stars.

The Unemployment Rate

Like all industries, filmmaking continues to seek more return on investment. Nowadays, there is less incentive for producers to undertake a film that showcases acting aptitude. The list of top box-office hits is filled with movies that rely on computer-generated effects to draw large audiences. In fact, we often lose sight of a movie star against a backdrop of alien invasions or catastrophic explosions. These movies are expensive to make and frequently divert money from other projects. In the end, the availability of big-screen acting jobs has diminished.

Movie blockbusters like "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" have deemphasized the need for top-drawer talent. The movie received three Oscar nominations for visual effects and sound, but none for acting. Although Shia LaBeouf did a credible job as lead character in the film, it's difficult to envision any actor winning an Academy Award playing that part. No matter how well it could have been written, the role would never supersede the action. For an accomplished actor like Hoffman, it's not a part that would demonstrate his far-reaching ability.

Television, on the other hand, has grown from three channels in the 1950s to hundreds of channels that need new shows to entice viewers. The cable and satellite TV concept has made it possible for commercial-supported and subscription channels to offer increased opportunities. It's true that reality TV has reduced the demand for actors. Nonetheless, premium content providers like HBO and Showtime have led the pack by developing challenging roles that appeal to the stars.

The Expenditures

Large movie-studio films used to command the roster of A-list actors. Making a fortune from one film was possible if you had name recognition. Television actors, by comparison, made paltry sums and probably had to work harder for their money.

But as television grew, so did its spending on film actors. Some felt it was just an experiment that would fail. Nevertheless, Charlie Sheen, who transitioned from Hollywood movies to the TV series "Two and a Half Men," earned millions of dollars per episode. Few movie stars made as much during the same time period.

Salaries, however, aren't the only issue. Television spending on all aspects of production has increased, which has pushed the quality of what it now offers. TV wasn't known for its lavish spending in 1988. Situation comedies like "The Cosby Show" and "Roseanne" were shot on limited sets, and many dramas like "L.A. Law" and "Matlock" didn't feature an abundance of outdoor scenes. The argument that TV was too small for pricey visuals could be made then. Large-screen TVs forced changes in that thinking, however. Viewers wanted better visual effects than what the original "Battlestar Galactica" series could provide in 1978. The updated version, which drew Academy Award nominee Edward James Olmos to the series lead in 2004, filled the bill.

The Freedom

Hollywood studios once had a corner on edgy material. In 1972, comedian George Carlin had a list of the seven words you can't say on television. That inventory remained intact two years later when Hoffman starred in "Lenny," the autobiography of another off-color comedian, Lenny Bruce.

Such a movie could have never shown to a TV audience in those days. Rewriting it to meet FCC standards would have been a disservice. But now Carlin's list is a memory of how things used to be on TV. Television pursues content without strict censorship. In addition, TV has strayed from its traditional good-and-evil characters. For example, the lead in the Showtime series "Dexter" is a serial killer. He is good in the eyes of viewers because he eliminates violent criminals who have slipped through the cracks of the legal system. It's a far cry from what television used to be, and many high-profile performers relish the change.

Conclusion

The theater box office no longer represents the only option for actors in search of profound or high-paying roles. The law of supply and demand applies. Because of that, the resettlement of big-time film stars to television is sure to continue. Providing useful articles, reviews and writings on movies and films online.

Movie Review: Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (2012)

An unending, melancholy tone permeates the entire film, once again demonstrating Steve Carell's knack for that typical, sad, lonely character he always assumes (when he's not the cocky, ignorant, inconsiderate "Michael Scott" persona). But unlike Dan in Real Life or Little Miss Sunshine, there are few ups and downs - the role isn't nearly dynamic enough for audiences to invest in the somber development that keeps his plight from being emotionally involving. Similarly, Keira Knightley goes through the motions of being an unlikely companion without a convincing connection that could warrant their cross-country pilgrimage to find meaning in a world coming undone.

Dodge Petersen (Steve Carell) still goes to work each day at Metropolitan Consolidated Life Insurance, even though a 70-mile-wide asteroid named "Matilda" has just annihilated space shuttle Deliverance, the last remaining hope for saving Earth from certain doom. The countdown has begun: 21 days before the world ends. Many resort to abandoning hope, participating in carefree orgies of food and sex, or spending their final hours with family and friends. Penny (Keira Knightley) has missed her last opportunity to fly home and so laments outside Dodge's window. The two strike up a friendship and decide to embark on an odyssey to reunite Dodge with his high school sweetheart - a reconciliation botched by Penny retaining a misdelivered letter for Dodge. They're also accompanied by a randomly deserted dog dubbed "Sorry" - a witty moniker never fully utilized.

It's sometimes touching and undeniably soothing to see the obvious counterparts come to a romantic fruition, even if the casting choices don't appear completely compatible. Perhaps it's the age difference, or the contrasting personalities, or witnessing brief, unfulfilling assemblies of Penny's past admirers that seem probable yet discordant. Or maybe it's Dodge's admirable yet clashing sacrifices for love that suggest contrivance and an expected resolution. Regardless, a deeper association with the lead duo is elusive, what with the pervasive reminiscing, brooding, and irrational behaviors that are never delirious enough to be funny. Serenity arises, but not as repeatedly as bewilderment from the scenario.

This setting, with citizens either rioting, killing, offing themselves, contradictorily mowing the lawn as if to forget, or stocking bomb shelters for apocalyptic survival, is both the most unique element and the film's undoing. Ceding appeasement for an eye-opening twist essentially ruins the normal romantic comedy hiding beneath the frantic premise. And it's toned down to a degree, materializing less anarchy and chaos than might be expected (infidelity, rape and theft become a casual joke) if the situation were real - yet the shock of suicide and death still work their way into the picture. Enlightenment, a day at the beach, and reconnecting with loved ones can't mask the nerve-wracking, spontaneous nature of encountering bizarre strangers and frequenting eerily abandoned houses. At times it's more disturbing than humorous or romantic. Why should this bleak device interfere so tragically with a simple tale of recognizing the importance of truly worthwhile relationships?

The Avengers Movie's Success

The Avengers is a film produced by the Marvel Studios and released in 2012. It is a superhero film based on the superhero team from the Marvel Comics. The screenplay was written by Joss Whedon and is distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. The cast of the Avengers film has famous actors such as Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson and additional cast members: Cobie Smulders, Chris Hemsworth, Clark Gregg, Chris Evans, Tom Hiddleston and Jeremy Renner among others.

The Disney Company decided to change the title of the film in the United Kingdom. Instead of Marvel's Avengers it was released as Marvel's Avengers Assemble. This is because the company did not want the public to confuse the film with a TV series in the UK that has the same name. The film had its world premiere on April 11th 2012, at the El Capitan Theatre in California. The film broke many box office records immediately after its release on that day. The Avengers film made a record $207,438,708 during its first weekend at the theaters. This is a noteworthy record because Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 managed to acquire $169.2 million in its first weekend after the premiere. In its first week, the film broke the Dark Knight's 2008 record of $238.6 million by bringing in $270.019 million in ticket sales.

The Avenger's film received positive reviews by many notable critics. For example, the film got a 93% rating from the Rotten Tomatoes, which is a review aggregator website. It also obtained an average 8.1 points on 10 from the overall 267 reviews. CinemaScore gave the film an A+ grade based on the audience reviews. Another review from Metacritic showed the film received a score of 69 out of 100, due to the aggregation of 43 reviews.

The factors that contribute to the success of the movie are the stars, careful planning, as well as the original content. The stars of the film were all main characters in their various films and Marvel Comic books. When they came together, the fans wanted to know what would happen in the film, making the film a box office hit. The directors and producers of the film took the time to plan the film and released several teasers and one commercial spot in the Super Bowl. These actions increased the hype of the film, and many people looked forward to the premiere of the film.

The film did not make any changes to the characters, and they appeared just as they did in their previous films and comic books. The only character who underwent some changes was the Hulk. He was greener in the first Hulk film released in 2003, and the 2008 Hulk was too masculine. The film director decided to reduce the Hulk's green color and minimize his muscled appearance in the Avengers Film. The actors also showed their professionalism and dedication, by bringing out all the emotions required, despite the fact that it is an action film.

In the film, there was no main character because all the characters worked as a team and each of them had their own moment to shine. The film's special effects, as well as the action, proved worth watching and increased the film's appreciation by the audience. Another important factor in the success of the Avengers is the dedication of the director/ producer Joss Whedon. He developed the story from the comic characters and did not try to create a completely new story that deviated from the comic characters.

The character of Bruce Banner enhanced the success of the film. Mark Ruffalo played the roles of the brilliant, yet cynical Dr. Banner and the Hulk in the film. He brought out the characters in such a marvellous way, enhancing the film's reception. He brought out the Hulk's character well by refreshing the character. He also brought out the geeky and irritated character of Dr. Banner in a spectacular way. Many critics appreciated the film's plot in addition to the character's dialogues. Men In Black 3 Movie Review

Well, it's been ten long years since Agents J and K showed off their intergalactic protection skills in Men In Black 2, and given that the film didn't exactly win rave reviews, you can't blame anyone for being a little skeptical about the likelihood of a third installment being memorable. Luckily, I am always willing to give Will Smith the benefit of the doubt, and I'm happy to report that he and the entire cast made it worth my time.

THE GOOD: In order to go forward in this story, we have to go backwards... meaning time travel to the past; the summer of 1969, to be exact, when astronauts were preparing to walk on the moon and the Mets were poised to win the World Series. Another newsworthy event was Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) putting a foul looking alien by the name of Boris behind bars---in a prison on the moon, no less. But 40 years later, Boris has busted out of his lunar lockup and has managed to sneak through the space time continuum in an effort to find K and kill him. It's all up to J (Will Smith) to go back in time and put Boris out of commission, before he can achieve his goal. Oh, and J also needs to keep himself from getting left in 1969 as well... yes, it's sort of a "Back to the Future" twist, and it may not be as ingenious of an idea as it seemed 25 years ago, but for all intents and purposes, it works. As you can imagine, there is a social commentary to be made with J going back in time as a black man, and Smith delivers some great attitude at perfect moments when small minded people speak without thinking.

As much as I adore Will Smith however, the scene stealer in this movie is without a doubt Josh Brolin, who not only plays the younger version of Agent K, but NAILS it. There's no debating that Tommy Lee Jones has a very unique presence and mannerism, so for someone to be able to capture that with such flawlessness, it is award worthy in my opinion. From his facial expressions to his accent and timing, everything was spot on... and hilarious. Adding to that fun, we have the alien character Griffin (played by Michael Stuhlbarg) who is a sweet and perpetually anxious little creature, and has the dubious gift of seeing the future----or rather the equal possibility of several different futures, some positive and some not so much. With his misty blue eyes, Elmer Fudd wool hat, and innocent childlike responses, he might come across as goofy to some, but I adored him.

THE BAD: I can only assume that in order to capitalize on how amazing Josh Brolin is in this role, efforts were made to keep Will Smith's character from shining too brightly. Or at least, that's what ends up happening. Usually Agent J is so full of sarcasm and attitude that the laughs are pretty constant... this time around, it took almost 45 minutes for Will to have a laugh worthy moment, at least for me personally. This isn't to say that Smith isn't his usual great talent, but be prepared that he doesn't pack nearly the punch in this installment as he did in the first two.

THE UGLY: I'm torn really, as to what the most hideous part of this movie was, but I certainly have it narrowed down to two contenders: the first being Boris (Jemaine Clement) in general---this guy just brings repulsive to a whole new level---but it's his teeth specifically that had me completely nauseated. It was like an entire mouth full of giant yellow molars and reminded me of the scary monsters I imagined as a little girl. Of course none of those creatures were ever making out with a woman in black leather pants in my imagination---which brings us to contender number 2. If there is anything more disturbing than a monster like man with bad dental work, it would be watching that same man sticking his tongue in a woman's mouth. Shudder. It's like I'm a five year old girl again, with a whole new scary image to keep me awake at night.

It's a generally accepted fact that the Men In Black Franchise started off strong, then hit a low with MIB2. There will be those who won't be willing to give MIB3 a chance because they fear things will only get worse... the surprise is that, as sequels go, this one is actually worth seeing, not only because of Brolin's performance, but the touching surprise twist at the end that explains J and K's relationship.

The Trophy Wife gives this movie 3 ½ trophies.

Men In Black 3 has a running time of 106 minutes and is rated PG-13 for sci-fi action violence and brief suggestive content. No F words. Providing articles, reviews and writings on movies online.

What Other Good Film Rental Websites Are There Like Netflix?

If you're a movie lover and use the internet often, you will probably have heard of the online stream rental website, Netflix.com. This is a website that, for a monthly subscription fee of £5.99, allows you to access a library of around 100,000 movies and TV shows to watch whenever you like! There is big business in this market and there are several companies fighting for the consumer attention, so in this article I will have a look at the other companies fighting for a share of your attention.

Love Film
Lovefilm.com is a site with a similar business model to Netflix. Owned by the huge retail giant Amazon.com, it already has established itself as one of the main players in the online stream/rental business.

One of the packages it offers, Lovefilm Instant, is essentially the same package as Netflix, however it is just £4.99 a month! The range of titles available with Instant are less than you get with Netflix though, and reviews for that particular package are pretty poor compared to Netflix.

There is one major difference between Lovefilm and Netflix, and that is the number of packages available. Where Netflix offers one flat rate £5.99 a month all access package, Lovefilm has lots of different options, and prices to go with them. For example you can rent DVD's to your home address for a monthly fee, or stream online for a monthly fee, or combine the two (more expensive). Check my resource box at the bottom for more information on the pricing of the different packages available, plus how to get free trials with both Netflix and Lovefilm.

The one main similarity with both companies is that both offer a one month free trial of their services. This gives the consumer a chance to work out if the service is worth the fees, a very good idea. REMEMBER! If you take up a free trail with either service you must take care to cancel the service before the month is up if you do not want to pay subscription! It only takes either a phone call or a couple of clicks with each service!

Blink Box
Blink box is an emerging company in the market and is growing in popularity in recent times. This is because it has a different take on the market to the other two companies, in that it does not charge monthly subscription fees! This works to the advantage of the occasional film watcher, as you only pay for a film when you want to watch one! Also Blink Box currently has a deal with Dominos Pizza (2012) where on a Monday you can watch a movie from 99p and get 40% off certain orders at Dominos Pizza! For more information and pricing check my resource box at the bottom.

I hope this article has helped in showing the different options available to using Netflix.com. Providing articles, reviews and writings on movies online.

Vampire Diaries: More Than Just a Fantasy

For movie enthusiasts, the Twilight series is one of the most popular fantasy movies in recent times with its introduction of romance between a vampire and a human. It's not exactly an original concept but the author added some extra features like how vampires sparkle and also the concept of a love triangle with a werewolf. Just like in movies, TV shows have its fair share of popular fantasy shows such as True Blood, The Walking Dead and Smallville. One TV show that aims to be another memorable show is the CW's "The Vampire Diaries".

Vampire Diaries follows the story of a girl, Elena, torn between her romance for two vampires who happens to be brothers. Looking at that plot alone, people may judge it as a copycat of other several vampire stories. While it may not be that original in terms of its concept, the show makes up for it in their storylines and subplots. It doesn't exactly focus on the trivial facts about vampires but on the relationship of every character, especially the main character, who finds out she is a descendant of another vampire and whose life has changed when the people around her has been affected by the presence of the vampires. Elena, played by Nina Dobrev, finds herself in the company of Stefan and Damon who tries to capture her heart. But the decision is not easy to make for her as she has fallen in love with both of them. The other characters in the show have also captured the interest of the viewers with their own storylines which are in some way connected to each other in the greater side of things. One of Elena's best friends, Bonnie is a witch who grew up under the care of her grandma and another one of her friend is Caroline who was turned by a vampire and fell in love with a werewolf, Tyler, who happens to be one of their friends. We have seen these characters grow throughout the show's run especially when Bonnie strives to have more power as a witch and finds out about her mother is alive all these years. We also see Caroline's maturity as she makes her transition from a human to a vampire. We see how she struggled with helping her boyfriend turn to a werewolf and try to keep their relationship even if vampires and werewolves were not supposed to be together. Elena also has her own set of problems especially in dealing with her parent's death and the added responsibility of taking care of her brother whom she only has left after their guardian passed away.

One of the major reasons why this show continues to keep viewers watching is that it incorporates real life problems and situations into the show. Most people like to watch drama and this show has plenty of it. There's romance, betrayal, action and a hint of humor to mix it up a bit. While this show might have vampires and other supernatural beings as the main cast of the show, it is something that humans have enjoyed in their TV viewing. Batman: The Dark Knight Rises

Christopher Nolan Rises to the Occasion!

Christopher Nolan has made all Batman fans worldwide very happy, but most of all proud. Comic book fans are a very dedicated and loyal crew. They want to boast and beat their chests with pride and need the world to know just how badass Batman truly is. Batman is not the colorful Spider-Man who dances around like Tobey Maguire. Batman is dark and twisted constantly at war with Gotham city.

What if you were 8 years old, your parents take you out to a movie and some loser thug named Joe Chill kills your parents, right in front of you? Would you not be cold, distant, and perhaps even odd? Christopher Nolan has done a fantastic job telling the story as it should be told. "The Legend Ends" on July 20th, but Christopher Nolan has ensured his Dark Knight will live on for a very long time.

Bane: "The Man Who Broke the Bat"

"When Gotham is ashes, you have my permission to die. "- Bane, speaking to Batman

Who is Bane? Bane is that guy who was born and raised in prison. He is that guy who broke Bruce Wayne's spinal cord. He is a smart and physical freak who has been fighting to survive his entire life.

In Batman The Dark Knight, we witnessed Heath Ledger transform The Joker into the villain we all knew and wanted to see for so long from the comic books.

The question is can Tom Hardy bring Bane to life like Heath Ledger did with The Joker? All signs point to yes, and we can tell from the trailer that Bane is no stranger to death and destruction. Tom Hardy himself described Bane as an absolute terrorist. If he can make that transition on screen, get your popcorn ready! It is sure to be one hell of a ride! Batman The Dark Knight Rises is set to end on a high note. This movie will be the masterpiece to end an already proven and brilliant franchise.

Batman The Dark Knight Rises Cast and Crew

Christian Bale is back for his final Batman movie. He said earlier in an interview that this will be his final movie wearing the Batman costume. Gary Oldman is also returning to play Jim Gordon. Then you have Michael Caine playing Alfred, and Morgan Freeman playing Lucius Fox. The new members for this final installment is Anne Hathaway, who takes on the infamous role of Selina Kyle. For those that don't know that name, you might know her famous alter-ego of Catwoman.

Anne Hathaway gets plenty of screentime in the trailer and is sure to be a hit. Christopher Nolan also adds Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard, who were both in his huge hit Inception. Overall the cast stays the same, lined with star power and an enormous amount of talent. Of course you have Liam Neeson and the above mentioned Tom Hardy.

O and did I mention Troy Polamalu, Ben Roethlisberger, Hines Ward and many other NFL Pittsburgh Steelers all make their movie debut! With the new additions this is sure to be nothing less than a blockbuster.

Batman The Dark Knight Rises into Box Office Gold!

Batman Begins, which was released back in 2005 pulled in $372,710,015 Worldwide!

Batman The Dark Knight was released in 2008 and is one of the top ten biggest grossing movies of all time! It pulled in a worldwide total of $1,001,921,825. This new and final installment, Batman The Dark Knight Rises is set to break records once again! It has an estimated budget of $250 million, up from the estimated budget of $185 million from Batman The Dark Knight. I think it is safe to say this Batman will rise right into the record books! Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, Marvel Comic's Next Superhero

A few days back while I was watching the celebrity gossip channel TMZ on my TV connected to Dish Network, the promos of the yet to be released Ghost Rider sequel was shown. The sequel Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance follows the life of Johnny Blaze, which is reprised by Nicolas Cage.

The less-than-three-minute trailer was impressive and appealing. Most of the action sequences were worth watchable and awesome. Surprisingly the Marvel Comics and the producers have taken a lot of time for releasing the second installment of this popular franchise. The first installment was released in 2007 and it was a blockbuster hit. After the blockbuster hit and worldwide audience acceptance, the producers planned to release a sequel of the movie in 2009. But due to some reason, it was delayed as Nicolas Cage was not ready to continue the role as Johnny Blaze, the bike stunt daredevil again.

During a press conference, he said that the audience would get bored and will not feel the same excitement in watching the second part when compared to the first one. But he said if the script was interesting and the story was entertaining, he would be happy in reprising his role of Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider. Owing to the lack of interesting scripts or Nicolas Cage being busy with his other films, the film's shoot was delayed and hence the movie will hit the theaters in February 2012. But it does not have Eva Mendes reprising her role as Roxanne, Johnny's girlfriend.

The films Ghost Rider and Spirit of Vengeance are the comic book adaptations of the Marvel Comic character under the same name. The first edition of the book was initially published in 1972 and was active till 1980s. In late 1990s, the publisher of the Marvel Comics brought back the character and the character of Ghost Rider occasionally appears in other Marvel Comics of Spiderman, Iron Man and other notable characters.

The original story as per the comic book is a lot different from the movie but the characters and the plot are the same. In the movie Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze strikes a deal with the devil to cure his father's cancer in exchange for his soul. The devil agrees and cures his father's cancer, but Johnny‘s father dies while displaying a stunt. The devil approaches Johnny and tells him to keep the part of his deal and gave him his soul, which Johnny does not agree to. The devil gets furious and puts a curse on Johnny turning him to a Ghost Rider.

For many years Johnny tries to escape from the hands of the devil, but ultimately the devil catches him and Johnny starts working for the devil. At night, he would turn into the Ghost Rider and travel through the entire city, collecting all evil and devilish souls and helping innocent people side by side. Besides collecting corrupt souls, the devil assigns Johnny the task to retrieve a contract which has the corrupt souls of a thousand people. The contract was taken away from the devil by the previous Ghost Rider and hidden somewhere in the city.

In the final scene of the movie, when the devil offers to relieve Johnny from his burden and gives his soul back, Johnny declines and says that he would use the power given to him against the devil and save the lives of innocent people and avenge his father's death. The devil gets angry and says that Johnny will pay for his imprudent mistake.

The second installment Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance starts from where it was left. The story shows Johnny living somewhere in a remote place in Eastern Europe. Everyday Johnny tries to fight his curse and struggles to repress it. One day an alcoholic warrior monk comes to meet Johnny and informs him that a religious sect had sent him to find Johnny. The Joy of STAYING ALIVE

The movie "Staying Alive" is a real story of a journalist Aditya, played by Anant Mahadevan. Aditya, after his third heart attack is admitted in the intensive care unit of the hospital. On the neighbouring bed is an underworld don Shaukat Ali, played by actor Saurabh Shukla. Shaukat is in ICU due to his unconditional love for kebabs that brings him his first heart attack. The story is about how the journalist influences the life of a key player of the underworld. The Staying Alive movie rating is not been out yet.

The cast of the film also includes Chandan Sanyal, Sanjay Swaraj, Navni Parihar, Ranjana Sasa, Jehangir Khan. The movie comes from the banner of Shemaroo Entertainment. The producer of the Staying Alive Movie is Pilakesh Bhowmik and it has been directed by Anant Mahadevan. The music is given by Sanjay Chowdhury whereas the screenplay is by Sujit Sen. Though the plot of the story looks fictional but this is based on a real story to make you believe that people do change and that too for the better. Lying on the hospital bed Aditya mocks death, while on the other hand Shaukat is terrified of the thought of dying. The two opposites develop a bonding with each other and form a so called love-hate relationship. Aditya shares his life experiences and deep secrets with Shaukat and he makes confessions about his good and bad deeds. Shaukat likes the experience of this new friendship, even though he is deprived of kebabs.

All through their stay in the hospital, their wives share a strong bond and support each other in this life threatening situation of their spouses. It is said that you only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough and in this movie Shaukat learns the same lesson. He understood that life should not be taken for granted as each breath of ours is a gift from God and should not be misused. He realized that there is more in life than terror and destruction. Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a positive ending. He had figured out everything except how to live and his ICU neighbour taught him just that.

Believe that life is worth living and your belief will help create the fact and Aditya made Shaukat believe in the above fact that he knew and did not realize. This stay in the hospital transformed Shaukat to a new person all together. He starts to value his along and also the lives of others. He starts seeking a decent and civilised life. The climax of the film deals with life as it unfolds for a man from the wrong side of the law trying to set things right. Will he or won't he succeed? This black comedy is all about appreciating life and experiencing the joy of just Staying Alive. The Staying Alive Movie Review is expected to be average.
